On Wednesday 24th October, Bethal celebrated the launch of our new house names and mascots!
Each house presented their original house chant, followed by Mrs De Mercurio cutting the ribbon, to officially launch the new house names.
Students then participated in 3 stations within their house groups; the stations were dancing, craft and olden day games.
At the end of the afternoon, all students (teachers & community members that helped out) received an ice-cream topped with their house coloured jelly crystals; YUM!
I would like to thank each and every person that attended the ‘House Launch’ and helped make it such a memorable day! As you can see from the photos below, we all had a lot of fun!
The swimming program will begin on Wednesday 7th November.
All foundation to grade 2 students will be attending Broadmeadows Aquatic and Leisure Centre each day for 7 days, where they will complete a water safety program.
There will be an information session for all students, teachers and parents on Wednesday 31st October at 2.30pm in the BER building.
I look forward to a successful, fun swimming program!
On Thursday 16th August 2018, Mrs Selamet, Steve, Cigdem and Miss Monkcom along with 35 students from grades 3-6 attended the Broadmeadows District Athletics at Meadowglen International Athletics Stadium in Epping.
The students had worked hard in the weeks prior to prepare for the big day. All of the hard work paid off, and the students represented both themselves and Bethal Primary School in such a fantastic way. We received many 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons throughout the day, and many students achieved their goal or Personal Best (PB)!
I was one very stressed teacher throughout the day, running and overseeing the event for the first time, but these 35 amazing students and 3 extremely helpful adults made my day a breeze.
A special congratulations to Rosemary (100m sprint and long jump) and Ascia (200m sprint), who will be representing The Broadmeadows District, Bethal PS and themselves at the Woodlands Division Athletics at Meadowglen on Monday 10th September 2018. We wish you the best of luck and know you will do your very best!
Thank you for making all of the hard work, lunches missed and stress, worth it. I couldn’t be prouder of each and everyone of you!

Miss Monkcom and the 35 students who made her the proudest teacher!

On Wednesday 20th June, 18 Bethal students attended the AFL Gala Event at Dallas Brooks Community Primary School. They participated in a round robin against other local schools. The students and families received a sausage in bread and a few prizes at the end of the event. Well done to Rami and Ascia who were each awarded a sportsmanship award!
On Wednesday 20th June, Yasmien, Rosemary & Esa attended the Northern Metropolitan Region Cross Country at Bundoora Park. It was an enormous achievement to qualify for this round, and these three students should be very proud!
On Thursday 31st May, 14 girls, 15 boys, Monty, Mr Tran and Miss Monkcom attended the Broadmeadows District AFL Gala Days. It was the first time the district had held a girls AFL Gala Day and we were very happy to be involved. Both teams performed very well on the day and their courage was amazing. Well Done!
On Friday 9th March the grade 5/6 students that didn’t go to camp participated in 3 camp related activities. We built a teepee tent and blew up a couch to begin with. Students then participated in cooking camp pizza (from scratch), tent building competition and a craft activity (making stress balls). We all had lots of fun!
Here is the recipe we used for the pizza!
